Norway defeat Estonia 51-0 in well-attended home match at Tiskre

3 May 2026 | Estonian Rugby Union

Norway won the Rugby Europe Conference match against Estonia 51–0 at the Estonian National Cricket and Rugby Ground in Tiskre on Saturday, 2 May. The match was watched by over 200 spectators.

Despite the final score, Estonia showed clear improvement compared to last year’s meeting, when Norway won 58–10. Estonia kept Norway to a single score for the opening and closing 20 minutes, showing improved physical and tactical preparation. The half-time score was 0–36, meaning Estonia had a significantly better second half — Norway could only add 15 points after the break.

Norway’s Number 12 Fredrik Skovly was named Player of the Match on his impressive 50th cap for Norway.

Estonia’s standouts

Marvin Üürike returned to the international stage at No.10 after a long absence — he last represented Estonia before 2020. Üürike directed Estonia’s attacking game throughout the match and was one of the team’s standout performers.

Peter Malsub made his international debut on Saturday, adding a new name to Estonia’s cap list.

Head Coach Graham Smith

“I’m proud of the team. Norway are clearly a stronger side than us, but our boys gave absolutely everything — physically and mentally. For a large part of the match we competed with Norway and defended with full commitment. At key moments Norway played better than us in the conditions. Marvin Üürike’s return was a huge boost for the team and Peter Malsub’s debut shows our player pool is growing. We still have a long road ahead, but the direction is right.”

Thanks

The Estonian Rugby Union thanks all the volunteers who helped organise the event. Special thanks to Marten Laanisto, whose role as assistant commissioner ensured the match ran smoothly.

The match referee was Croatian Luka Lerotić, for whom this was his first international match as a head referee. Assistant referee Christopher Wallace made his international refereeing debut — he has previously had a long career as a player in the Estonia national team.

Looking ahead — Women’s historic home game

Next up on the home pitch is history of a different kind: the Estonia Women’s rugby team will play their first-ever Women’s 15-a-side international match on Saturday, 16 May against Latvia. Kick-off 14:00 at the Estonian National Cricket and Rugby Ground, Tiskre. Entry is free.
