Last Sunday the Estonian women’s development 7’s team drove down to Latvia (It’s a long trip) to play in the Nordic cup. Estonia were invited to join Latvia and Lithuania.
There were five teams in total: Latvia A & B, Lithuania A & B and Estonia.
This was a good test for Estonia, Latvia are a level above in the Rugby Europe competitions and Lithuania are 10 years ahead of us in developing their women’s rugby programme. Both proved to be very strong opposition.
We played five games and although we lost all our games we played very well. The players showed courage and commitment in their performances scoring some well-constructed tries.
Latvia A will be playing in the Rugby Europe trophy in June which is a high standard. We managed to score two tries against them, the only team to score against them in the tournament.
We scored 8 tries in total. Destiny with 3 in addition to a try each for Marleyn, Mirjam Liblik , Mia , Mirjam Kert, and Marianne scoring her first try for Estonia.

We were joined by Mathilda, Birgit and Amaia, 3 new players who traveled to experience the tournament. I am sure they will be playing Estonian colours soon.
